It’s been a little over a year since I picked up my Husqvarna 701, and in that time I’ve put about 2,500 miles on it. That may not sound like much to some, but for me it’s a decent amount of riding. I figured it was time for a long term review of the bike.
First off, let me just say that I absolutely love this motorcycle. It has everything I could ever want in a bike, and then some. It’s fast, nimble, comfortable, and stylish – everything you could ask for in a streetbike.
And while it is technically classified as a “dual sport” bike, make no mistake – this is a streetbike through and through.
That being said, there are definitely some things that could be improved upon. First off, the suspension is on the soft side – which is fine for everyday street riding but can be an issue when you hit the twisties hard.
Second, the fuel economy isn’t great – I average about 35 mpg at best (and that’s with premium fuel). Thirdly, the range isn’t great either – with a full tank of gas (5 gallons), I can usually get about 150 miles before needing to refuel. And finally, while the styling is great overall, there are definitely some questionable design choices (like those plastic fenders).
But despite all of these minor complaints, I still absolutely love this bike. It really is the perfect streetbike for me and does everything I need it to do… and then some!
